A story that simmers slowly in large pots, just like in the old days.
In a quiet corner of the village of Viscri, our kitchen isn’t just a place for cooking—it’s a story that simmers slowly in large pots, just like in the old days.
Here you’ll find Aunt Marcela, our village cook, who for over 40 years has been cooking like home—but with that “home” you never forget. From her hands come Transylvanian stews that warm your soul before you can say “one more spoonful,” soups that taste like Sundays at Grandma’s and like the roads that always bring you back. For many, they are the sure reason to return.
The main course stays true to tradition: stews, tender roasts, simple and authentic dishes, cooked without haste, using local ingredients, just as they used to be made. And to finish, desserts you’ll never forget—golden-brown pastries, "cozonac", and homemade sweets that disappear immediately when they reach the table.
We cook a limited number of portions daily to preserve freshness and avoid waste. That’s why a reservation isn’t just recommended—it’s almost a guarantee that you’ll get a seat at the table.
Breakfast is a celebration in itself: cheese and fresh curd from our neighbors Gerlinde and Nica Damian, brought in every morning from their cows, vegetables from local gardens, meats from the village butcher shops, homemade jams and zacusca, freshly boiled milk, and Transylvanian potato bread, baked just right.
Everything is simple. Everything is authentic. And, above all, everything has that rare flavor you seek without even knowing you’ve been missing it.
